The difference between preservative ACQ and CCA

Anti-corrosion wood is no stranger to everyone. Its anti-corrosion performance is penetrated into the wood by high-pressure preservative to achieve anti-corrosion effect, which can extend the service life of wood by 5-10 times. At present, there are two kinds of antiseptic agents used for anti-corrosion wood at home and abroad.

In the past few decades, the methods of wood preservative treatment have mainly been based on CCA. Its main chemical composition is chromium arsenate. Due to the trace amount of arsenic and heavy metal chromium in CCA, people have been psychologically worried about their health hazards in recent years. The United States and European countries have stopped using CCA at the beginning of this century. Wood (except industrial and special environmental aspects), in China, the use of CCA anti-corrosion agents to treat wood preservatives is still dominant. A preservative other than CCA is ACQ, whose main chemical component is an alkyl copper ammonium compound. It does not contain arsenic, chromium and other chemical substances, and has no adverse effects on the environment. This new type of environmental preservative does not cause harm to human and animal fish and plants, and has good anti-corrosion properties. This treatment is considered an effective alternative to CCA.

With the continuous improvement of related technologies, ACQ will become one of the main methods for future anti-corrosion wood treatment in the long run. Finnish wood preservatives are processed with ACQ preservatives. It can be said that anti-corrosion wood products treated with ACQ preservatives are a safe and environmentally friendly product.
