The meeting was hosted by the National Stone Standardization Technical Committee and undertaken by the People's Government of Quyang County, Hebei Province. Leaders from China Building Materials Federation, China Stone Association, National Stone Quality Supervision and Inspection Center and more than 70 experts and representatives from 11 national stone and sculpture main producing areas in Beijing, Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Guangxi attended the validation meeting. In 2009, Quyang explored the “Technical Specifications for Stone Carving (Carving) Products†and was designated as the local standard of Hebei Province, providing technical support for the product inspection of more than 2000 manufacturers in the stone carving industry of the county. To support the development of the industry in order to develop a scientific, unified, national standard. Organized and implemented by China Stone Association, National Stone Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, Quyang County Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau, Hui'an County Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau, Quyang County Carving Industry Association, Quyang County Yan Yan Cang Sculpture Art Group, Quyang Hongzhou Sculpture Garden Co., Ltd. Quyang Rongjie Carving Stone Co., Ltd., Fujian Qidali Group Leiyi Stone Co., Ltd. and other units jointly drafted the "National Industry Standards for Stone Carvings". The standard makes relevant regulations on stone carving stone product classification, technical requirements, test methods, experimental rules, signs and packaging. The meeting reviewed and approved the National Industry Standard for Stone Carvings. This standard is the first industry standard for stone carving products in China. It has important and far-reaching significance for strengthening quality control, regulating market order, safeguarding the legitimate interests of both enterprises and consumers, and realizing the healthy, orderly and standardized development of the carving industry. Quyang has a profound cultural heritage since Qin County. The history of carving began in Han, in the Tang Dynasty, and in Yu Yuan. In 1995, Quyang County was officially named by the State Council as “the hometown of Chinese sculptureâ€; in 2006, “Quyang Stone Carving†was identified as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage by the State Council, and Lu Jinqiao and Yan Yancang were awarded national intangible cultural heritage. The representative project inheritor title; in February 2011, Quyang Sculpture Culture Industrial Park was named as “National Cultural Industry Experimental Park†by the Ministry of Culture; in June of the same year, the registered trademark of “Quyang Stone Carving†was approved by the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce.
