Zhangjiagang "medical examination" campus special equipment

Beginning in early May, the Zhangjiagang Bureau of Quality Supervision initiated special inspections on the use of special equipment in a number of schools within its jurisdiction, which revealed a number of safety issues.

It is understood that recently, more than ten pressure vessels in Zhangjiagang Foreign Language School, the Sixth Middle School and other schools have been inspected by the quality supervision department and discovered several major safety hazards and unsafe factors. Some pressure vessel safety accessories have not been regularly calibrated, and some have not been calibrated for a long time; some important parts of containers have cracked and are prone to leakage, but they are still in use.

In response to the problems in the inspection, the inspectors proposed corrective measures on the spot and asked the school to establish and improve the safety system and emergency rescue measures. At present, the pressure vessels that have found problems in the inspection have been rectified and dealt with. The Zhangjiagang City Education Bureau will also start the investigation of hidden safety hazards in the schools in its jurisdiction.

The reporter learned from the understanding that, as of the end of last year, the city had a total of 298,087 sets of special equipment, including 251,562 sets of equipment in use, 46,525 sets of equipment was deactivated, and 5,697 sets of special equipment were scrapped by the whole city last year.
