Shaanxi's Coal Production Surpasses 400 Million Tons Over 11% Year-on-Year in 2011

According to the Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Coal Production Safety Supervision, Shaanxi's coal production increased significantly in 2011. The annual output exceeded the 400 million tons mark, a year-on-year increase of more than 11%, and coal production continued to rank third in the country.

It is understood that in 2011, Shaanxi Province made great efforts to strengthen the development of new areas, actively promote structural adjustment, strengthen the management of the coal industry, pay close attention to the safety of coal production, and vigorously implement the strategy of coal mining through science and technology. Coal production has shown a good momentum of development. In 2011, the Shaanxi Province's coal production reached 405 million tons, an increase of 42.34 million tons year-on-year, an increase of 11.7% year-on-year, accounting for 10.8% of the nation's coal production, ranking third in the country.

In addition to the increase in production, the coal safety production situation in Shaanxi Province is also relatively stable. There were a total of 52 fatal accidents in coal mines in Shaanxi Province in 2011, with 73 deaths. The number of deaths dropped by 20 compared with the same period of last year; the death rate per million tons was 0.18, a year-on-year decrease of 31%. In terms of capacity structural adjustment, Shaanxi Province vigorously implemented resource integration in 2011 and increased the closure of small coal mines. In the year, 97 small coal mines were closed and lagging production capacity was 6.93 million tons.
