Incoming inspection

Incoming Quality Control (IQC) is the first level of quality control before the production of the company's products. If the non-conforming product is put into the process, it will lead to process or final product failure, resulting in huge losses. IQC not only affects the quality of the company's final product, but also affects various direct or indirect costs.

In the manufacturing industry, the direct impact on product quality is usually the design, incoming materials, process, storage and transportation. In general, the design accounts for 25%, the incoming materials account for 50%, and the process accounts for 20%. % to 5%. In summary, incoming inspections have an overwhelming position on the quality of the company's products, so it is necessary to raise the quality control of incoming materials to a strategic position.

The core of quality management is quality, the foundation is full participation, the purpose is to satisfy customers, and the ultimate goal is to form a long-term successful management approach. To sum up, quality management generally includes three aspects, namely, incoming material quality management, process quality management, and shipment quality management. Enterprises can break through quality management from the above three aspects and find the best method. In this article, we will introduce how to do the inspection of incoming materials.

1. What is IQC?

IQC (IncommingQuality Control) refers to the quality inspection and inspection of incoming raw materials, components or products, that is, the quality is tested by sampling when the supplier sends raw materials or parts, and finally judges. Whether the batch of products is received or returned.

2. The meaning of incoming inspection

IQC is the first level of quality control for enterprise products before production. The purpose is to move quality control forward, find quality problems at the forefront, reduce quality costs, and achieve effective control. If the non-conforming product is put into the process, it will lead to process or final product failure, resulting in huge losses. IQC not only affects the quality of the company's final product, but also affects various direct or indirect costs.

3. The duties of the incoming inspector

3.1 incoming inspection. The main work is the incoming inspection, and the IQC inspection can be summarized as the activity of confirming whether the materials of the outsourcing and outsourcing materials or their main characteristics are confirmed by reference to the relevant standards of the materials; or whether they meet the requirements for use.

3.2 Deal with material quality issues. IQC also needs to track the quality problems found during the inspection process, as well as the tracking of major material quality issues in production and market feedback, and establish preventive measures within the IQC.

3.3 Statistics and feedback on the quality of material in the whole process. The quality data in the process of receiving and inspecting the data is fed back to the relevant departments in the form of weekly reports and monthly reports as the basis for the supplier's incoming quality control and management.

3.4 Participate in the process optimization of the relevant departments of materials. Participate in the optimization of relevant processes in the logistics control process, and provide suggestions and opinions on process optimization related to logistics and material inspection.

4. Introduction of four sampling methods for incoming materials inspection

IQC often encounters various kinds of defects when inspecting incoming materials. It is necessary to check both the whole and the sample for inspection. Below we mainly introduce the IQC sampling method.

General steps for incoming inspection:

IQC incoming material inspection common sampling method

Hierarchical sampling

If the incoming goods are placed in a layered or ordered manner, the stratified sampling method may be used for sampling. See the illustration below. If the patch materials such as resistors and capacitors are placed together in multiple rolls, and the cartoon boxes are equally stacked, etc., it is applicable.

Diagonal sampling

For the placement of goods that are clearly and tidy, the diagonal sampling method can be used for sampling. See the illustration below. This method applies if you use a tray or the like to hold or lay the incoming material.

Triangulation

If the incoming goods are placed on the same plane, they can be sampled by triangulation. See the illustration below. The same applies to the situation described in II.

S-type sampling

If the incoming goods are placed on the same plane, they can also be sampled by S-shaped sampling. See the illustration below.

IQC is generally responsible for quality control of purchased materials, including inspections and statistical analysis of various data. Commonly used reports generally have inspection reports, monthly or annual feed inspection results summary, material PPM reports, and so on. There are many reports, and some software systems can be used for analysis and processing, which can achieve paperless, labor cost, improve response to quality problems, shorten reaction time, and automatically collect test data and generate reports required by IQC. Improve the efficiency of the workers.

5. Working principle

IQC is a window for companies to deal with suppliers, and it is also the gateway to control supplier quality. How IQC works is directly related to the company's product quality costs and the company's impression among suppliers.

5.1 Sampling is rigorous. Sampling test is a statistical probability of risk. This kind of risk may put defective products on the production line, and may also reject the qualified products, which indirectly causes losses to the company. Therefore, when sampling, be sure to Let the sample reflect the quality of the mother. In the sampling plan, according to the current international or national standards, the risk rate below 5% can be controlled. However, in the process of sample extraction, the randomness of the mother may be insufficient due to personal preference, so the sampling method should be Pay special attention to rigor.

5.2 Determine the quality “objectively and fairly”. IQC personnel often contact with suppliers to form an “emotional atmosphere” that is subject to subjective awareness during testing, resulting in differences in the criteria for determining suppliers. Affected by the mood of the individual, the mood may be serious, the inspection and judgment are more cautious; the mood may be a blind eye. Affected by the personality of the inspectors, people who are anxious are subjective in judgment, so it is necessary to pay attention to objectivity and fairness. If the unqualified batch is put into the process, the raw material problem occurs. The first thing to investigate is the responsibility of IQC personnel.

5.3 Determined by a combination of factors. In the inspection, sometimes there are some conflicts in quality, time, cost and efficiency. For example, raw materials need to be urgently launched, and the inspection finds that there is a little "small problem" that cannot be accepted according to the original standard. The company's procurement strategy is adopted. Low-priced materials, although different from the original quality targets, are still likely to be accepted.

5.4 Try not to take special measures; clearly mark during the inspection process. The label identification is used to distinguish the item to be inspected, the defective product, the qualified product, etc., and it is preferable to stick it on the colored label to distinguish it.
