How to prevent cracking and hollowing of celery petiole

Hollow phenomenon, therefore, we must choose the appropriate sowing period, and strengthen the fertilizer management before and during the growth, and provide sufficient nitrogen fertilizer to reduce the occurrence of hollow phenomenon.

    Third, the soil is deficient in boron: celery has a strong demand for boron. When it is lacking, the petiole is prone to cracking. Generally, 0.5~0.8 kg of borax is applied as a base fertilizer per acre before planting to prevent cracking of the petiole, such as slight cracking after colonization. At the time of application of 0.5 to 0.8 kg of borax per acre with water , it can also inhibit the serious occurrence of cracking disease.

4. Soil drought: The roots of celery are shallow and narrow, and the drought resistance is weak. It needs sufficient soil moisture and high air humidity, especially in the period of growth, water is more indispensable, and soil drought also affects the absorption of boron by roots. The symptoms of boron deficiency occur, and cracked stems occur. Therefore, in the growth process of celery, attention should be paid to timely and uniform supply of water to avoid small leaves and many petiole fibers, and hollowness occurs.
