Fertilizer types and application principles of different certified agricultural products

Fertilizer is an important means of production to improve the output of agricultural products and improve the quality of agricultural products. The unreasonable use of fertilizers will pose a great threat to the quality and safety of agricultural products. In 2002, the Ministry of Agriculture incorporated pollution-free agricultural products, green foods and organic agricultural products (referred to as “three products”) into the category of safe agricultural products, forming a “three-in-one, overall promotion” development pattern, which is an important part of agricultural product quality and safety work. To produce "three products", we must also select fertilizers according to different requirements and pay attention to the principle of fertilization.
Fertilizer application principles for different certified agricultural products Due to the different positioning and focus of the “three products”, the principles of fertilizer application are also different.
â—†The principle of fertilizer application for pollution-free agricultural products There is no specific standard for the application of fertilizers for pollution-free agricultural products, mainly based on the production technical regulations of various (type) crops in the NY/T5000 series of standards, and the use of fertilizers varies according to crop varieties. However, the general principle is to implement the NY/T496-2002 General Principles for the Rational Use of Fertilizers, which are recommended agricultural industry standards. In the production of pollution-free agricultural products, balanced fertilization is emphasized, and urban garbage, sludge and organic fertilizer that have not been harmlessly treated and whose heavy metal content exceeds the standard are prohibited. The use of chlorinated fertilizers and chlorine-containing composite (mixed) fertilizers is restricted in fruit production.
â—†Green Food Fertilizer Application Principles Green foods are applied to fertilizers in accordance with NY/T 394-2000 Guidelines for the Use of Green Food Fertilizers, which are recommended agricultural industry standards. The basic principle is that the use of fertilizers must meet the crop's need for nutrients and return enough soil to the soil to maintain or increase soil fertility and soil biological activity. Chemical fertilizers are allowed in the guidelines, but the use of nitrate nitrogen fertilizers is prohibited. The ratio of use of organic nitrogen to inorganic nitrogen and the safe interval of topdressing are specified. The use of municipal solid waste that has been harmlessly treated is clearly defined.
â—† Principles of Fertilizer Application for Organic Agricultural Products The application of organic agricultural fertilizers is carried out in accordance with GB/T19630.1-2005 "Organic Products Part 1: Production", which is a recommended national standard. The basic principle of fertilizer use in the production of organic agricultural products is to replenish the organic matter and soil nutrients taken from the soil by crop harvesting by recycling, regenerating and replenishing soil organic matter and nutrients. Organic fertilizers should mainly originate from the farm or organic farms; limit the use of human excreta; natural mineral fertilizers and biological fertilizers should not be used as a substitute for nutrient cycling in the system; chemical synthetic fertilizers and municipal sewage sludge are prohibited.
Types of Fertilizers Allowed for Different Certified Agricultural Products Because there are many methods for classifying fertilizers, different classification methods are used in the relevant standards for “three products”. The technical regulations for the production of pollution-free agricultural products have been drafted by different units. There is no specific classification method. Some of the standards involve plant growth regulators. The guidelines for the use of green food fertilizers are divided into farmyard fertilizers, commercial fertilizers and other fertilizers; organic agricultural products. The soil fertility and improved substances that will be permitted in the standard are divided into plant and animal sources, mineral sources and microbial sources. For the sake of comparison, the classification of fertilizers in the Guidelines for the Use of Green Food Fertilizers is divided into farmyard fertilizers, commercial fertilizers and other fertilizers, and plant growth regulators are also included in the comparison.
As can be seen from the table, most fertilizer varieties can be used in the production of pollution-free agricultural products, and some fertilizers are restricted in crops. The use of fertilizers in green food production emphasizes the rational use of organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizers. It is forbidden to add genetically modified fertilizers. Ingredients and plant growth regulators; chemical fertilizers, fertilizers containing genetically modified ingredients are prohibited in the production of organic foods, and mineral fertilizers and biological fertilizers that retain natural components are used in limited quantities.
