At PITTCON (Pittsburgh Analytical Chemistry and Laboratory Exhibition) held in March 2014, Element Six released a fully covered diamond technology for electroanalytical chemical sensing equipment. The technology, jointly developed by Element Six and the University of Warwick, plans to upgrade and upgrade the next-generation electroanalytical sensing system for biomedical, environmental, food, industrial process monitoring, pharmaceutical and oil and gas exploration.

The fully-coated diamond technology consists of an EA grade diamond film produced by Element Six, a boron-doped diamond electrode encapsulated in coplanar insulated diamond; the shape of the electrode is available in a variety of options. This "wrapping" method allows the sensor to be easily integrated with other electrochemical devices while maintaining the high performance of the diamond electrode. At present, fully covered diamond technology has been successfully applied in conductivity meters and electrochemical devices.

Warwick University professor Julie Macpherson said that fully-coated diamond electrodes can work in more harsh environments, greatly extending the life and durability of the device; while high durability and highly accurate coplanar electrode array shapes enable electroanalytical devices The detection sensitivity is greatly improved under different environments.

Mike Riding, general manager of the British instrument manufacturing company, said Element Six and Warwick University have done a good job. The structured electrode packaging enables seamless assembly of our existing analyzer equipment and diamond conductivity sensors, a major leap forward in electrochemical sensing technology.

Element Six's EA grade diamond film electrodes are superior to boron doped film electrodes and other electrode materials:

1. The electrical analysis system has high sensitivity, high selectivity and fast response. The 100% phase purity provides the widest range of electrode material electrolyte solution windows between -2.3V and +2.4V, improving ion species detection such as sulfide, lead, copper and zinc.

2. Reduce the failure mechanism of the substrate, strong corrosion resistance under high temperature and high pressure, good chemical inertness, durability, and surface roughness of Ra<0.02m.

3. The precise boron concentration control technology enables the fully-coated diamond electrode to have a metal-like conductivity and achieve a low capacitance with a small background current.

Element Six has been at the forefront of advanced applications in synthetic diamonds. Adrian Wilson, the company's head of the company, said that the fully-coated diamond electrode developed this time is the best proof of our in-depth development of synthetic diamond properties, especially in the future with high sensitivity and environment. Poorly applicable product equipment.
