Confined Space Occupational Hazard Prevention and Control Principles

I. Occupational hazards in confined spaces

Acute occupational poisoning accidents often occur in confined space operations. Commonly confined spaces include caves, tunnels, sewers and other access holes, septic tanks, boilers, cabins, and cellars.

Occupational hazards in confined spaces include: hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, methane, nitrogen oxides, electrocution, mechanical damage, collapse, and biological factors.

Second, the principle of preventing occupational hazards in confined spaces

1. Conduct continuous monitoring of riot, oxygen and toxic gases in a confined space;

2, to continue the ventilation of the confined space before starting work;

3, to be equipped with appropriate emergency protection and rescue facilities.

Third, confined space occupational hazards disposal measures

Before entering the confined space, the laborer should obtain permission from the person in charge of the job and keep in touch with the custodian. Since the nature of the work cannot be ventilated or the condition of the confined space is unknown, appropriate respiratory protection products should be worn. In case of accidents such as asphyxiation or poisoning, rescue workers should wear protective masks such as air masks, oxygen masks, or hose air-supply masks. On the basis of self-protection, enter the confined space, quickly move the poisoned person to outdoor open space, and take corresponding treatment measures. Do not rush to enter, so as to avoid unnecessary casualties.
