China's diamond circular saw blades and parts encountered US anti-dumping investigation

After the Chinese canvas enterprises were listed on the US anti-dumping list this year, the US will launch anti-dumping investigations on diamond saw blades and parts imported from China and South Korea.

On May 3, the American Diamond Saw Blade Manufacturers Association, together with its nine member companies, filed an application with the US International Trade Commission to initiate anti-dumping investigations on diamond circular saw blades and their components originating in China and South Korea.
A person from the China Chamber of Commerce for Industry and Commerce said that due to the different tax codes of the customs statistics of China and the United States, the specific number of enterprises involved in the case has not been grasped at present, but most of the enterprises are concentrated in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan and Hebei.

According to US Customs statistics, China’s diamond saw blades exported to the US last year amounted to more than US$26 million, making it the largest source of imports in the US market. Although the amount involved is not high, the impact of this case cannot be underestimated.

“China has more than 1,500 synthetic diamond materials and tool manufacturers, and diamond saw blades are one of its most important products. There are not many enterprises involved in the case and related employees.” Shanghai Hongkong Consulting Center Trade Relief Measures Monitoring and Early Warning Department He Hongchang Said.

What is even more worrying is that diamond saw blades are becoming an emerging export growth point in China. Many companies, including some listed companies, have already been preparing for new production lines and are ready to put into production this year and next. "If the United States finally decides to implement anti-dumping measures on this product, it will kill the development of China's diamond tool industry to a certain extent. It is like a good start for those companies that aim to export and prepare for a big job." Usually, invest in a set of high-end Diamond materials and saw blade production equipment require tens of millions of dollars.
