Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia (CCAI) was established in 1992. The Cikedokan plant produces PET bottled carbonated soft drinks, tea and juice, and plastic cup-packed tea drinks. Plastic cup packaging is very popular in the Asian market, and Indonesia is no exception.

The plant recently sought automated palletizing solutions to enable continuous operations on the production line while making more efficient use of the workforce. To Gebo Cermex engineers worked closely with their team at the Cikedokan plant to design a new automated palletizing solution based on the customer's actual needs, including stacking palletizers, pallet conveyors and a fully loaded pallet. In order to meet the production target of 3600 cases/hour in the production line, the system provided by Bo Ximai adopts three small palletizers, U-shaped structure, one for each packaging area, and can feed empty trays and send out along the same side of the equipment. Fully loaded pallets are interconnected by a self-controlled shuttle system, which is considered to be the most cost-effective and operationally efficient line termination solution.

This solution, combined with better productivity and OEE (integrated equipment efficiency), can significantly improve manual management. Today, Cikedokan's production lines are more efficient and organized, enabling continuous operation and more sensible use of production space.

The result exceeded expectations

Grant McClean, technical manager of the plant's infrastructure project, said: “In the weeks after the installation of the equipment, we conducted a test that was significantly better than the acceptance criteria we set at the beginning of the project. In the subsequent production runs, we found equipment efficiency.
